Combat Scenes In Holland

(Whether superbly timed or just a fortunate accident, Barger caught a flak burst that almost seems to be in the midst of the bridge structure.  Although difficult to see, a sign reading "N.V.E. TE Winke" appears on the building at extreme lower right.)

(The Maas river [the English name would be Meuse river] bridge near the town of Grave.  This bridge was taken by the 504th PIR, on one of the first few days of Market-Garden.  At the same time the 508th operated about 6 miles east of this location, near the town of Groesbeek.)

(Army Engineer Corps have laid a Bailey bridge to span this unidentified river crossing.)
