was built entirely of wood due to war-time metal shortages and restricted use of aluminum.

Once Queen of The Seas
now permanently docked in Long Beach, the Queen Mary served as a troop ship in WWII. Quite possibly some of the 508ers attending the reunion were brought back to our shores aboard this ship.
