The Association recognized the completion of it's second
decade of reunions with a gala four-day event held in the Radisson Hotel,
Atlanta, GA from September 1 through 4, 1994. Special recognition was
given to the 50th anniversary of the invasion of Europe that had begun on
June 6, 1944.
Sessions were held in the Quality Inn in Lake Wright, a
Norfolk suburb..
Special events notably included a tour of Fort Benning which
after 50 years must have had a few eye-openers but plenty of nostalgia as
well. For the first time, a keynote speaker graced the Memorial Breakfast
as the Honorable Max Cleland, Secretary of State, State of Georgia addressed
the members.
Again a variety of tours were made available although not
documented here. The ladies, however, were directed to the shopping
centers in the immediate area. Certainly more than a few having made their
way through these stores returned to the hotel with bulging shopping bags.
Special note was made of "Happenings" that included two
professional baseball games (Atlanta Falcons vs. Philadelphia Phillies (note
the misprint of "Philadelphia Eagles" which is a football team) and
the Falcons against the Los Angeles Dodgers). both a Jazz Festival and an
International Music Festival as well as an opera.
The Atlanta Blue Notes provided live dance music after the
banquet on Saturday evening.
