How To Submit

The Association "went Country" with the group convening in Nashville, TN, home of the Country and Western "Ole Opry" and numerous other musical halls.  The session was convened at the Holiday /inn Select - Nashville Opryland/Airport in Nashville TN.  The meeting was held from September 2 through 6, 1998.

Highlights of the Business Meeting centered around the establishment of various memorials honoring Lenny Funk and other deceased members of the 508th at Camp Blanding's museum in Starke, Fl.

Local attractions featured, naturally, the Grand Ole Opry as well as the Country Music Hall of Fame and other attractions (see page 6 for details).

SPECIAL EVENTS
"Our General"
   The Tennessee reunion was marked by the presentation of a very special  plaque to Col Louis Mendez (Ret.).
    The association honored him by bestowing the two stars signifying the rank of Major General that everyone felt he had earned even though not promoted officially.
    Col. Mendez was truly "our General".

Men are indicated with color coded tags or their names was written across their chest. The colors indicated which of them jumped into Normandy (green square), jumped intro Holland (red square) or had been a POW (red squiggle).  First names not included on the photo are placed in brackets:
