ENTERING STE. MERE EGLISE, FRANCE

The official logo for the 60th Anniversary of the D-Day invasion.
The French prefer to refer to it as a "Debarkation" but either way, it was a major event and its been 60 years

At Long Last
we drew close to Ste. Mere Elise, for what was foe most of us, the highlight of the entire two-week odyssey.  We all felt as exhilarated as the paratroopers had been on the night of June 5, 1944 ... but without the fears that they must have had..

Humbling Experiences
were in store for all of us, especially for those who were not WW-II veterans.  Sincere gestures of gratitude were evident no matter where we were to go.
Expressed over and over was the absolute appreciation for what the Allies, and perhaps especially, the Americans had done 60 years earlier.

Thank You For Liberty
was an often stated sentiment from this town that vows to never forget.  This sign was in a clothier's window

Hand Held Sign
is a simple but sincere expression on the part of this man
