WARRANT OFFICER RANK INSIGNIA |
During WW-II there were only three warrant officer ranks in use and they signified roles or duties rather than grade differences.
In 1947 the insignia was totally redesigned and a fourth grade was introduced
with titles of WO-3rd Class, WO 2nd Class, WO 1st Class and Chief Warrant
Officer. In 1954 the insignia were again redesigned and the titles changed to
Warrant Officer at the W-1 level and the W2 through W4 levels were all
entitled Chief Warrant Officer. On
June 10, 1970 (with an effective date for wear of July 1, 1972)
the insignia shown below under PRESENT DAY were introduced and
the Grade of WO5 created |
