Pvt Garcia, seeing
his platoon being subjected to intense automatic
weapons fire from enemy positions that could not be
located, moved in front of his platoon, drew the
fire of these upon himself, reducing one position
and keeping another under continuous fire until it
too was flanked and reduced by his platoon. |
g. |
During the preceding
night, enemy patrols had started a fire fight to
find our position and to act as covering force for
their automatic weapons moving into position a short
distance in front of our lines. |
h. |
Pvt Garcia jumped
over the hedge-row and received fire from one of the
enemy using a machine pistol from his position in a
tree. He dispatched him with a rifle grenade,
and having discovered another source of enemy fire,
returned to his platoon, pointed out the enemy
position and placed fire on it while others flanked
and reduced that enemy position. |
