II — AWARD OF. THE BRONZE STAR MEDAL
Under the provisions of AR 600-45, as amended, and pursuant authority
contained in letter 200.6 (AG) Headquarters XVIII Corps Airborne, dated 31
August 1944, and Circular No. 2, Headquarters First United States Army,
dated 4 January 1945, the Bronze Star Medal is awarded to the following named individual:
GERALD P. GUILLOT, 0-470109, First Lieutenant, 508th Parachute Infantry, for
meritorious service in connection with military operations against the enemy
during ,the NORMANDY, HOLLAND, and BELGIUM Campaigns. First Lieutenant
GUILLOT, Executive Officer, Headquarters Company, First Battalion, has
rendered meritorious service to his regiment during the NORMANDY, HOLLAND,
and present BELGIUM Campaigns. On many occasions, First Lieutenant GUILLOT
took command of his company when the commanders became casualties. In the
combat jump in NORMANDY, First Lieutenant GUILLOT reorganized his company
and was in command of it until the 21st of June. During an attack on 3 July
1944 he again assumed command of the company, remaining in command until the
conclusion of the NORMANDY Campaign. In HOLLAND, First Lieutenant GUILLOT
assembled his company,. following the jump and was responsible for its
efficient assembly. During the present action, First Lieutenant GUILLOT has
performed his duties in a highly commendable manner maintaining a CP defense
with a limited amount of personnel. His unceasing efforts have earned him
the respect and admiration of all officers and men with whom he has contact.
