Leo was a native of
Rahuste, Estonia. He immigrated to the U.S. departing
Göteborg, Sweden on on 8 November 1937 aboard the M/S Gripsholm bound
for New York, NY with his mother and 2 siblings.
The
family is also documented in Swedish Emigration Records [see bottom
portion of the sheet] as having originated in Estland (Estonia.). |

Leo enlisted in the Army
on 2 February 1943. Pfc Anto was transferred to Co A, 508th PIR
from the Third replacement Depot on 9 February 1945.
He was discharged on 9
November 1945 and re-enlisted the following day. He received his
final discharge on 28 April 1947.
