MARTIN J. BENEDICT

BENEDICT MARTIN BARON
   LONGVIEW, Wash.- Benedict Martin Baron, Kelso, Wash., died here Monday. He was born June 9, 1926, in Gilmanton township, Benton county, Minnesota.
   Mr. Baron was a WW II veteran and had attended electrical school in Kansas City, Mo. He was employed at the Weyerhaeuser Lumber company in Kelso
  . Surviving is his father, Tom Baron, Foley, Minn., and the following brothers and sisters, Adelbert, Olympia, Wash.,; Julian, Rock River, Wyo.; Mrs. Rosemary Kline, Missoula, Mont.; Dennis, Foley, Minn.; Civil. armed forces in Formosa; Mrs. Dennis (Angela) Niedzielski, Gilman, Minn.; Phyllis, Minneapolis, Minn., and Thomas Jr., Joann, Frances and Susan, all at home.
   Funeral services will be held Saturday, 10 a.m., from the Ss. Peter and Paul church in Gilman. Minn. Burial will be made in the parish cemetery Friends may call at the Foley funeral home, Foley, Minn., after 1 p.m.

Grave marker for Benedict J. Baron in Saint Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery, Gilman (Benton county), Minnesota.

 

Benedict registered for the draft in Foley, MN on 16 June 1944 and was inducted into the Army  at Fort Snelling, MN on 11 October 1944.

Pfc Baron was transferred from the 101st Airborne Division to Company, I,. 508th PIR on 19 October 1945.
