Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus application submitted by Weiser G. Bates on 7 February 1950.

He was discharged from the Birmingham General Hospital, Van Nuys, CA on 16 March 1946.  The hospital had a sprawling campus and its wards could house 1,777 patients.  Why he may have been hospitalized there is unknown.

Grave marker for Walter is Section T, Lot 20. Mechanicsburg Cemetery, Mechanicsburg (Cumberland county), Pennsylvania.

Weiser enlisted in the Army at Fort Lewis, WA and was in Co F, 15th Infantry  at Fort Lewis in April 1940.

He later volunteered for parachutist duty and served as a member of Service Company, 508th PIR
