ORWELL — Calvin A. Beck, age 92, formerly of Manhattan, Kan., died on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at Eagle Pointe Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Orwell.
He was the son of Wayne and Anna (Sanders) Beck, born on Sept. 27, 1921 in Belpre, Kan.
Mr. Beck was a decorated U.S. Army Veteran serving in three European Theaters in WWII as a Demolition Specialist and Paratrooper.
He was a former employee of Phillips 66 refinery for 17 years and a contracted OSHA Safety Inspector at Ft. Riley, Kan., then became self-employed as an Appliance and Heating/Air systems repairman.
He is survived by his daughter, Valinda Asbury of Orwell; grandchildren, David L. Beck of Manhattan, Kan., Troy
Llewellyn of Cortland, Ohio, Derry Beck Jr. of Bluesprings, Mo. and Nancy Jo Buchli of Milford, Neb.; and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Derry Beck Sr.; his siblings; and a granddaughter, Charlette Thompson.
A Memorial Service officiated by the Rev. Stanley C. Mink will be held on Thursday, Oct. 3rd, at 2 p.m., including the American Legion Post 540 Trumbull Co. Honor Guard, at the Bazetta Baptist Church, 1109 Perkins Jones Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483.

Calvin Beck registered for the draft in Okmulgee
(Okmulgee county), Oklahoma. His record was created on 29 August
1945 following his discharge.
Calvin enlisted in the army on 3
January 1940, before the draft was enacted.
On 10 August 1944, SSgt Beck
was transferred from the 11th Replacement Depot to Company I, 508th PIR.
His military decoration include the
Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for the Holland campaign and
Airborne operations.
