Bonus application submitted by Roland Bishop on19 January 1950.
Roland enlisted in the
Army at Fort George G. Meade, MD on 18 May 1942.
Following jump school Pvt
Bishop was shipped overseas on 11 February 1944. Initially
assigned to Service Company, 508th PIR Pfc Bishop was transferred to
Company D on 2 March 1944.
He was wounded in action
in France on 4 July 1944 and evacuated to a field hospital. On 10
October 1944 he was dropped from 508th rolls and transferred to he
Detachment of Patients for whatever hospital he was convalescing in.
By 17 September 1944 he arrived in the U.S. and was hospitalized for
further treatment.
Roland was discharged from
the Army on 16 March 1946 at Newton D. Baker General Hospital,
Martinsburg, WV |
