Marcel Bollag, 92, of North Caldwell, N.J., passed away
Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at the Daughters of Israel in West Orange, N.J. A
funeral service will take place Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at 1 p.m. at
Temple Sholom, 760 Pompton Ave., Cedar Grove, N.J.
Born in Zurich, Switzerland, Marcel emigrated to New
York at the age of 19. He enlisted in the Armed Forces, and served as a
paratrooper and interrogator in the 82nd Airborne, where he earned a
Purple Heart.
Marcel owned several businesses and founded Lux Homes
Inc. in 1954 and in 1956 started the franchise for Pella Windows and
Doors in Newark, N.J. Marcel was a philanthropist who supported many
organizations and was especially devoted to Sdei Chemed, a school for
children in Israel that was founded by his father. Marcel was the loving
patriarch of his family.
Predeceased by his adoring wife, Anita, he leaves his
daughters, Carol Sidman (David) and Jacki Guber (Rick), in addition to
his grandchildren, Brian Sidman (Ashley) and Lisa Sidman (Daniel), and
three great-grandchildren (Dylan, Camryn, Sunnery). He led an exemplary
life that his family will make every effort to emulate.

paratrooper, Marcel received a
Purple Heart. Marcel had a passion for hockey and was the
longest living ticket holder for the N.Y. Rangers. We will remember
Marcel for his never ending kindness, humility, love of family, and
giving to others. Marcel was the founder of
Pella Windows and Doors, of New Jersey and owner until
1990. We will indeed miss you, Daddy, Papa, Marcel. With our love,
Carol and David Sidman, Lisa Sidman and Danny, Camryn, Dylan
Sanchez, Brian, Ashley, and Sunnery Sidman.
