New York National Guard
enlistment record for Andrew J. Brady. He enlisted at the age of
18 on 14 January 1936 and was assigned to Company C, 71st Infantry
On 20 February 1942 Andrew
enlisted in the Army at Ft Dix, NJ. He had apparently fulfilled
his obligation with the National Guard as no mention of it appears in
this enlistment record.
Pvt Brady volunteered for
parachutist duty and in July 1944 was assigned to Company A, 508th PIR.
On 7 January 1945 Pfc
Brady was listed as injured in action and sent to a field hospital.
He rejoined the company on 16 January,
Pvt Brady was transferred
to Headquarters 13th Airborne Division on 28 Mary 1945.
His military decorations
include the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for the Holland
campaign and Airborne operations and the Combat Infantryman Badge for
action during the campaign, 18 Dec 1944 to 20 Feb 1945.
Andrew married a woman in
Nottingham, England and settled down there following the war. His
death in August 1987 was reported by the U.S. Consulate, London, United
Kingdom. |
