LATHAM -- James P. Burke II, 84, of
Latham, died Monday, April 10, 2006 at the Stratton VA Medical Center,
Albany, after a brief illness. He was the beloved husband of Catherine
Panetta Burke.
Born and educated in Troy, son of
the late James and Anna Donahue Burke. Mr. Burke lived in Troy most of
his life, residing in Latham for the past 11 years. He was self-employed
as a real estate broker in Troy for many years. A U.S. Army veteran of
World War II, Mr. Burke served in the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment,
82nd Airborne. He went on to become the beloved Sponsor Veteran of the
508 PIR, Inc., a non-profit re-enactment group, offering living
historical services, keeping the story alive. He was a communicant of
Our Lady of the Assumption Church, Latham and a member of the Colonie
Elks.
Survivors in addition to his wife
include his children, James P. Burke III, N.Y., Pamela Cardinal,
Douglasville, Pa., Janice M. (David M.) Kelsey, Glenmoore, Pa.; his
stepchildren, Sam (Maryanne) Andriano, Ballston Lake, Joseph (Gail)
Andriano, Lafayette, La., Dominick (Nancy) Andriano, Latham, Susan
(David) Keville, Ballston Spa, Elaine (Mike) Pierce, Colonie; his
sister, Joan Garland of Stillwater; 13 grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his brother, William Burke,
and his former wife, Helen Burke.
Funeral service 10:30 a.m. Thursday
at the Bowen Funeral Home, 97 Old Loudon Road, Latham. Friends are
invited and may call 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment
will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon, Saratoga National Cemetery, Saratoga.
