WILLIAM F. CHANDLER

Birth and death certificates as well as grave marker for William F. Chandler, Jr. in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Gilmer (Upshur county), Texas.

William enlisted in the Army at Tyler, TX on 17 October 1942 and 11 days later was transferred from Camp Wolters, TX to Hq 1st, 508th PIR.

Later promoted to Pfc, he was elevated to Corporal on 19 January 1945.

William's military decorations include the Combat Infantryman Badge for action during Normandy, France Campaign, 6 June 1944 to 9 July 1944 and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations.
