WILLIS DOLAND
BELLEVUE, Iowa - Willis "Gus" Doland, 82, of Bellevue, died Tuesday, March 20, 2007, at his home. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bellevue. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Kinger-John C. Lemke Funeral Home, Bellevue, and from 9:30 a.m. until time of procession on Monday at the funeral home.

He was born on Nov. 14, 1924, in Maquoketa, son of the late Forrest and Elizabeth (Corbitt) Doland. He married Marilyn Ernst on May 6, 1950 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, in Bellevue.

Willis worked 36 years at John Deere Dubuque Works, retiring in October of 1983.

He was proud to have served his country during World War II. He was an 82nd Airborne Army Infantryman with the 508 Parachute Regiment.

He was a member of the Bellevue American Legion Post 273 and the United Auto Workers Local 94.Golfing, bowling, hunting, and fishing were among his favorite things to do. Most of all he loved his family.

Surviving are his loving wife, Marilyn; their children, David (Barb) Doland, of Bettendorf, Larry Doland, of Bellevue, Steven Doland, of San Francisco, Mary (David) Voelkel, of Cedar Rapids, Bruce (Suzie) Doland, of Lewisville, Texas, Karen Doland, of Des Moines, and Lisa (Scott Yeager), of Huxley; seven grandchildren and their spouses; four great-grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren and their spouses; and ten step-great-grandchildren; special family friends, Mary Kay Portzen, Thomas Collins and Sue Hipschen; his brothers, Forrest Doland, of Mesa, Ariz., Dilman Doland, of East Hampton, Mass., Donn (Virginia) Doland, of Juneau, Alaska; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he also was preceded in death by a grandson, Matthew Yeager; a sister, Doris Lynch; a brother, Robert Stuart Doland; his in-laws, Bob and Judy Ernst, Vernon Ernst Jr., Andrew Agosta and Margaret Doland.Online condolences may be left for the family at www.kingerfuneralhome.com.
