WALTER DUWEGLOU

Pennsylvania Record of Burial for Walter DuWeglou in the Chester Rural cemetery, Chester (Delaware county), Pennsylvania.

His wife, Pauline M. "Polly" Lukes DuWeglou [1921-1999], shares this plot although the stone inscription has not been updated.  Their son, Walter Christopher DuWeglou [1958-1980] is buried elsewhere in this same cemetery.

NOTE:  Walter's surname at the time of enlistment was spelled as "Du Weglow" and also appeared that way on the 1940 Federal Census and some 508th Morning Reports.  Post-war civil records such as the one above, however, are consistent with the "DuWeglou" variation.

Walter enlisted in the Army at Philadelphia, PA on 5 April 1943.  Pvt DuWeglou was transferred to Company B, 508th on 30 October 1943.

Pfc DuWeglou was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for his participation in the Normandy assault.
