Grave marker for Robert L. Emert in Section I, Parkview
Cemetery, Peoria (Peoria county), Illinois.
Robert registered for the draft in Peoria, IL and was
inducted into the Army at Peoria, IL on 23 October
1941. He volunteered for parachutist duty.
On 16 October 1942, Pvt Emert was transferred from the
507th PIR to the 508th PIR as a member of the cadre team.
On 11 August 1943 he was sent from Service Company to an
unnamed hospital and never returned to the regiment. There are two
pieces of evidence to prove why. The date of his discharge as annotated on draft
record was 4 December 1943, and a mention in this newspaper
clipping reporting on his marriage. |

Wedding Held
In Peoria
MORTON. (PNS) --- Miss Ann E. Lohmar, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Leo R. Lohmar of Mor ton, and Robert L. Emert, the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Emert of Peoria, were married at 3 p. m., Saturday.
The Rev. R. M. Burgess of the Peoria Heights Congregational Church,
read ther single ring ceremony, at his parsonage. Attendants were Mrs. Arthur Moushon, sister of the bridegroom, and LeRoy Lohmar, brother of the bride.
A wedding dinner was served at the home of the bride to immediate family members following the ceremony. The table had as the center a three-tiered wedding
cake surrounded by white carnations. Bouquets of carnations were placed
about the room.
Mrs. Emert is a graduate of Morton Township high school. Mr. Emert attended Peoria schools and recently received a medical discharge from the United States paratroop
division at Camp MacKail, N. C. He is now employed at the Caterpillar
Tractor company in East Peoria. The couple will live in Peoria
