Grave marker for Bryan R. Erskin in the Military Section, Wilson County
Memorial Park, Lebanon (Wilson county), Tennessee.
Bryan enlisted in the Army on 15 January 1951.
Following completion of jump school he was assigned
Company A of the 508th Airborne Regimental Combat Team.
On 21 Jan 1955, The Leaf-Chronicle, Clarksville, TN,
listed Sergeant Bryan R. Erskin, Cesseler, W. Va., Service Company, as 1
of 21 508th personnel re-enlisting for Operation Gyroscope.
Spec-4 Erskin was awarded the Master Parachutist badge on
31 July 1960 at Fort Campbell, KY.
He re-enlisted again on 15 April 1961,
On 3 November 1963, the Beckley Post-Herald, Beckley, WV,
reported he was with the 25th ID in Exercise DUSTY TRAIL as a squad
leader Co B, 1st Battalion of the division's 5th Infantry at Schofield
Barracks, Hawaii. His wife, Ruby, is with him at the barracks"
1st Sergeant Erskin retired on 31 January 1972.. |
