BENNIE CECIL ESTES

Bennie Cecil Estes, 83, passed away January 28, 2011 at his daughter's home in Selma Texas. He was born to William Estes and Jewel Estes Owen on April 13, 1927 in Rockwood Texas. He was a career soldier and Vietnam veteran. Ben married Helen Bust on January 11, 1948.

During their service to their country they traveled the world until retiring in San Antonio, Texas. After retiring from military service, Ben began a second career as a master carpenter for Southwest Research Institute.

He is survived by his sister, Billie Ruth Van Huss, his children and their spouses, Elizabeth (Betty) and Tom Stewart, Patricia J. and Red Cossel, and Richard and Terri Estes, 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild.

Visitation will be held at Sunset Memorial Park on Tuesday February 1, 2011 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be held at Sunset Memorial Park at 12:30 on Wednesday February 2, 2011 with burial following at Fort Sam Houston. To offer condolences go to www.sunsetfuneralhomesa.com.

Grave markers for Bennie C. and Helen J. Estes in Section 25, Site 378, Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio (Bexar county), Texas.

 

Bennie registered for the draft in Coleman, TX on 13 April 1945 and was inducted into the Army on  at Camp Roberts, CA on 4 November 1945.

MSgt Estes retired at Fort Sam Houston. TX on 30 October 1968.

Miscellaneous Shower
Given Bride-To-Be

   A miscellaneous shower for Miss Helen Bust of 27 Netherwood Ave., s bride-elect was given recently by the Misses Helen Nelson, Marion Steitzel and Edna Sjostrom, who are to be her bridesmaids,  The party was held at Miss Sjostrom's home at 26 Andover Ave.
   Miss Bust will be married on January 11 in a home ceremony to Ben Estes, who is stationed with the Army Paratroopers at Fort Bragg, NC.
