Delbert J. Finke (1932-2006)

   CORALVILLE Delbert J. "Del" Finke, 74, of 715 14th Avenue in Coralville, died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2006, in his home following a le20 am. at Coralville United Methodist Church with Reverends Doug Williams and Jenny Selar officiating. A luncheon will be served at the church immediately following the service. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center at 2:30 pm Saturday. Visitation will be today from 5 to 7 pm at Lensing's Oak Hill in Coralville.
   In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Iowa City Hospice, Coralville United Methodist Church or The Delbert J. Finke Memorial Fund.
   Del was born Nov. 14, 1932, in Holland, Iowa the son of John and Berdine (Itzen) Finke.
   Growing up in Grundy Center, Del married Dorothy "Dot" Meyers Sept 1, 1957 in Grundy Center. The couple moved to Coralville in 1959 where Del worked for the University of Iowa College of Dentistry as Supervisor of Materials, retiring in 1998.
   He was a member of Coralville United Methodist Church and the Grundy Center American Legion. Del was active in the Coralville Little League and Babe Ruth baseball programs. He served as a sergeant in the United States Army Airborne Unit during the Korean Conflict.
   Survivors include his wife, Dot of Coralville; son David (Tracy) Finke of North Liberty and daughter, Diane Campbell (Todd Adamson) of West Branch; a grandson Jake of West Branch; brother, Floyd Finke of Kerrville, Texas, and sister, Mardell (John) Huck of Waterloo; sister-in-law, Betty Finke of Texarkana Ark, and many nieces and nephews.
   Del was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jerome.
