Grave marker for Dennis M. Fishgrab in the Springfield Cemetery, Springfield (Baca county), Colorado.

Leon enlisted in the Army on 6 December 1939.  In the 1940 Census taken on 16 April he was stationed at Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, TX in H Company, 23rd Infantry Division.

He later volunteered for parachutist duty and on 2 April 1944 SSgt Fishgrab was transferred from FFRD #8 to Service Company, 508th PIR.  Five days later he was shifted to Company B

On 4 August 1944 Fishgrab was transferred to Company C. 

Although he made it through the Holland Campaign unscathed, SSgt Fishgrab was wounded in Action on 5 January 1945 on Belgium. 

SSgt Fishgrab's military decorations include the Purple Heart and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations
