Sgt Grow was transferred
from ABC AGF Ft Bragg, NC to Hq 3rd, 508th PIR on 8 February 1943.
In May 1943, Sgt Grow as
sent on a 5-day Special Duty assignment to Camp Perry, OH. The
purpose appears to have been to escort Pvt T.... [name withheld by
Jumpmaster] from confinement at Camp Perry following his being AWOL.
Although Sgt Grow appeared
on the payroll through August of 1943, his departure from Hq 3rd is
unrecorded.
He was marked as
returning fro, a hospitalization on 12 August 1943 and that may explain
the reason for the remark of "he trained future paratroopers during
WWI." in his obituary.
Cecil passed away in
Billings, MT but the location of his final resting place is unknown.
