OSCAR B. IRBY
PORTSMOUTH - Oscar Braxton "Buddy" Irby, 86, of the 600 block of McLean Street died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 in his residence. A native of Danville, Va., from the age of 2, he was raised at Hughes Memorial School for Children.

He retired from Ford Motor Co. in 1981 after 32 years of service and was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Hazel June Irby; two daughters, Barbara Mercure and husband Robert of Chester and his baby girl Diane Franklin and husband Ben of Suffolk; and a son, Kenneth Irby.

A funeral will be held Friday, June 24, at 1 p.m. in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel, by the Rev. T. M. Frye. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
