WARREN C. JEFFERS

Grave marker for Warren C. Jeffers in Section J, Site 3426 of the Houston National Cemetery, Houston (Harris county), Texas.

Warren joined the Army on 7 November 1942, probably in Houston, and was assigned to Company G, 508th PIR.  Pvt Jeffers was appointed to the rank of Pfc on 14 January 1944.

Pfc Jeffers was seriously wounded in action on 4 July 1944 in France.  He was promoted to Sergeant on 14 October 1944.

Sgt Jeffers was wounded in action in Holland on 22 September 1944 and again on 27 December 1944 in Belgium.

He reverted to the grade of Pfc and was transferred to the 513th PIR on 18 August 1945 to facilitate his return to the U.S.

His military decorations include the Purple Heart with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters, the Combat Infantryman Badge, and the Bronze Service Arrowhead device awarded for participation in the Normandy assault
