EDWARD G. JODWALIS

Edward G. Jodwalis, 89, of Sarasota died August 4, 2011.

Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, at Sarasota National Cemetery, Sarasota.
Survivors include his wife, Frida; one son, Ronald; daughters, Jenny and Lori; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Pfc Edward Jodwalis, a member of Hq Hq, 508th,  returned to the United States aboard the USAT Henry Gibbins (line 29) which said from Bremerhaven, Germany on 18 December 1946.  The ship docked in New York, NY on 9 January 1947

Also aboard, but listed separately in the Alien Passenger group, was Frida Jodwalis (line 2), his wife.

 

The USAT Henry Gibbins was designated as T-AP-183, was launched on 11 November 1942.  After serving the Army, the Navy and various Maritime Academies, the ship was scrapped in 1983.
