DIXIE C. JOHNSON


JOHNSON, DIXIE C., 70, of New Port Richey, died Thursday (June 8, 1989). He was born in Jacksonville and moved to New Port Richey in 1982 from Maryland. He was an Army retiree and a member of the Florida State Chapter of Ex-Prisoners of War. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division, the Scottish Rite and Asbury United Methodist Church. Survivors include his wife, Willie Mae; a son, Richard, Hawaii; a daughter, Terri Johnson Jett, Jessup, Md.; and three grandchildren. Curry & Son Funeral Home, Tampa.

Jumpmaster Note:  Dixie was a member of the 509th PIR when he was captured on February 29, 1944 in Italy.  He was liberated on May 30, 1945 and was later assigned to the 508th.
