ROBERT E. KELLER

Grave marker for Robert E. Keller in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier (Los Angeles county), California.

Robert was born in Muncie, IN on 15 May 1916 and found his way out to Los Angeles, CA.

 

Robert enlisted for the draft vs. 1940 and entered service on 2 December 1942 in Los Angeles, CA.

Pvt Keller was transferred from Hq 82nd Airborne Division to Service Co, 508th PIR on 28 September 1943..

By 16 July 1943, he was a Pfc when he was awarded a Good Conduct Medal.

 He was promoted to Cpl on 31 August 1944.

Cpl Keller was wounded in action on 1 October 1944 but returned to duty the following day.

He was promoted to Sgt on 24 October 1944.

Almost exactly 5 years later, he married Helen Catherine Gadberry [1910–1999] in Los Angeles county, CA.

Robert died at the early age of 51 in the City of Hope Cancer Treatment Center, Glendora (Los Angeles), CA on 1 February 1968.
