ARTHUR D. KIDDER

LEBANON -- Arthur D. Kidder, 79, died April 8, 2010, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon.

He was born to the late Millard and Bernice (Tatro) Kidder on the family farm in Lebanon. He attended Lebanon schools and began working on the farm.

He enlisted in the U.S. Army where he proudly served during the Korean War. After his honorable discharge, he began working in several different machine shops, many years for Dartmouth College and later he operated his own business, Lil' Lumberjack, with his son Peter, processing and selling fire wood.

He married Lois Raymond on April 5, 1969, and they made their home on the farm. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, riding his four-wheeler and making maple syrup.

Family members include his wife of 41 years, Lois Kidder of Lebanon; five children, Vicky Kidder of Loudon, Bernice Cahill of Litchfield, Cynthia Riel of Palmer, Mass., Peter Kidder of Lebanon, and Damaris Geno of Plainfield; three sisters, Emma Mae "Polly" Russell of Lebanon, Catherine "Rye" Bannister of Lebanon, and Patricia Borneman of Canaan; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

IN HIS LIFE: He was predeceased by two brothers, Harry M. Kidder and Roger L. Kidder; and a sister, Constance "Connie" Pierce.

SERVICES: Calling hours are today from 5 to 7 p.m. at Ricker Funeral Home, Lebanon. A graveside service will be announced at a later date.
