STEPHEN J. KULCSAR

Stephen J. Kulcsar Sr., 93, died Feb. 18, at Summa Akron City Hospital. Steve was born in Barberton where he was a life resident and retired from the Seiberling Tire and Rubber Company. He was a longtime member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Barberton and a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Norton.

Stephen was a member of the Catholic War Veterans and a proud WW II Veteran having served with the 82nd Airborne Division. He was also an avid sports fan and Notre Dame Football fan.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Anne (nee Sefranko); parents, Charles and Julia; and his siblings, Kalman, Michael, Mary, Alex, John, Frank, Anthony, Julie and Sister Mary Benigna (Rose); Survivors include his sons, Stephen, Louis and Michael (Sue Ann); grandchildren, Christopher, Elizabeth and Michael; brothers, Joseph and Charles; and sister-in-law, Hermina Sefranko. Mass of Christian Burial is 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 20, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church, 1263 Shannon Ave., Norton. Fr. Robert Jackson celebrant.

Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery. Calling Hours Feb. 18, 5-8 p.m. at the Silva-Hostetler Funeral Home, 1199 Wooster Road W, Barberton where prayers will be said Wednesday, 9:30 a.m.

Stephen enlisted in the Army on 18 October 1939.

His early career is unknown but by July 1944 TSgt Kulcsar was a qualified parachutist and had been transferred to Company C, 508th PIR.

He was later transferred to Hq Hq and was awarded the Bronze Service Arrowhead device for the Holland campaign and Airborne operations
