James A. Lambert

   James A. Lambert, 56, of 277 Vernon Drive, Pleasant Valley Manor, was dead on arrival at Medical Center Hospital at 7:58 a.m. Sunday.
   Mr. Lambert, whose death was unexpected, became ill at home and was taken to the hospital by the Union Township Emergency Squad.
   Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Ware Funeral Home with Chaplain Leslie Myers officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens where a military graveside service will be conducted.
   Friends may call at the funeral home after 4 p.m. Tuesday.
   Mr. Lambert, a paratrooper during World War II, was a supervisor in the telecommunications department at the Chillicothe Veterans Administration Medical Center where he had been employed since 1945.
   A member of American Legion Post 757, he had been active in Boy Scouting and had been scoutmaster of former Troop 24 for more than 10 years.
   He also had a special interest in square dancing and calling. In addition to being a member of the Central Ohio Square Dance Callers Association, he was a charter member and caller for the Belles and Beaus Club of Chillicothe, a caller for the Shirts and Skirts Club of Grove City, and was teaching and working with the senior citizens square dance group in Washington Court House.
   Born March 6, 1923, in Lorado, W. Va., he was the son of Charles and Mae McCoy Lambert.
   Surviving are his wife, the former Betty T. Timmons, whom he married Dec. 4, 1945; his mother, Mae Vanover, Branchland, W. Va.; two sons, James A., 4460 Owl Creek Road, Frankfort, and Marty L., at home; two grandchildren; and five sisters, Mrs. Richard (Virginia) Harvey, Hinton, W. Va., Mrs. Harold (Elaine) Bower, Musselman Road, Mrs. Howard (Lola Jean) Morris, Conneaut, Mrs. Gilbert (Arlene) Buchanan, DeBord Road, and Mrs. Don (Peggy) Fisher, Massieville. He was predeceased by a brother.

James registered for the draft in Mullens, WV on 30 June 1942 and was inducted into the Army at Fort Thomas, Newport, KY on 3 December 1942.

On 22 October 1942, Pvt Lambert was transferred from the Reception Center, Fort Thomas, KY to Company B, 508th PIR.

He was then transferred to Company I on 17 November 1942.
