Peter registered for the draft
in Brooklyn, NY on 15 February 1942 and was inducted into the
Army at New York City, NY on 11 July 1942.
Pvt Lambro was wounded in
action on 12 October 1944 when struck in the leg by shrapnel and
evacuated to a field hospital where he was treated for "gas
bacillus group infection without gangrene";
On 8 January 1945 he was
transferred to the hospital's detachment of patients and
released for disability discharge under Section. II, AR 615-360
He was discharged on 7
November 1945.
His military decorations
include the Purple Heart, Combat Infantrymen Badge and Bronze
Service Arrowhead device, both awarded for action during
