ROBERT C. LENELL. Sr. |
Robert C. Lenell, WWII Army Veteran,
served as a paratrooper in three [sic] campaigns
with the 508 Parachute Infantry, beloved husband of
Virginia, nee Penar; loving father of Robert Jr.
(Linda), Wayne (Lynn), Brian (Jo Lynne) and the late
Wesley Lenell; dearest grandfather of 16;
great-grandfather of four; fond brother of the late
Raymond (late Eunice) and Richard Lenell. Funeral
Monday 9:15 a.m. from Modell Funeral Home, 7710 S.
Cass Ave., Darien, to St. Scholastica Church. Mass
10 a.m. Interment private. Visitation Sunday 2 to 9
p.m. In lieu of flowers donations to the American

Grave marker for
Robert C. Lenell, Sr. in Section G3 Site 91 of the
Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood (Will
county), Illinois.
Pfc Lenell, a
member of Company D, was appointed to the grade of
Sergeant on 1 August 1944.
On 27 October 1944
he was seriously wounded in action and evacuated to
a field hospital.
On 1 December 1944
he was transferred to the Parachute Replacement
Regiment at the Parachute School, Ft Benning,
GA where he could receive additional treatment.
