Calvary Cemetery, Indianapolis (Marion county),
Indiana.John enlisted in
the Army at Indianapolis, IN on 25 November 1942 and
was assigned to I Company, 608th PIR.

Likky was listed as missing in action as of 8 June
1944, but his status was later changed to
wounded in action on 12 June 1944. He
subsequently recovered and returned to his
company.
In late September 1944 Lilly, now
a sergeant, was again wounded in action and did not
turn to duty until 2 November when he was assigned
to Service Company to continue his recuperation
Due to a subsequent
hospitalization he was unable to return to I Company
until 12 March 1945,
His military decoration include
the Purple Heart with an OLC and the Bronze Service
Arrowhead device awarded for participation in the
Normandy assault. |
