Edgar
initially enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served
as a gunner.
In June 1943, he was in a 28-man
gunner team aboard the SS Joseph Warren arriving in
New York, NY. Troop ships had guns mounted on the
deck to stave off submarine attacks...
In
1944 he was listed in a 25-man gun crew aboard,
again on the SS Joseph Warren . as it departed
New York for an unstated destination. The
omission was probably due to the need to avoid
disclosure of troop movements.
On
25 May 1956, MSgt Lockman, his wife and 2 children
(line 4-7) were aboard MATS Flight 8423, which had
originated in Japan, were on the final leg between
Hickham, AFB Hawaii bund for Travis AFB, CA.
Note that other 508ers, such as the
Blum family, were also passengers |
