Eliseo P. Lucero registered for the draft ca. 1942 and was inducted into the army on 5 November 1942.

On 23 July 1944 Pfc Lucero was transferred from the 82nd Airborne Division to Company D, 508th PIR.

On 3 October 1944, Pfc Lucero was reported missing in action as of 17 September 1944.  It was later determined that he had been captured and was being held in a German POW camp.

In 1945, following the end of hostilities, Pfc Lucero was liberated from Stalag 7A.

Following his return to the U.S., he married Evangeline S Garcia in Saginaw (Saginaw), MI.
