Ralph W. Nicholes
UPLAND,
Calif. Ralph W, Nicholes, 75, Upland, formerly of Beatrice, died Friday,
May 7, 1999, in California, He was born Nov, 1, 1923, in Fairbury, Neb.,
and lived in Beatrice, Neb,, from 1948 until he moved to California
in 1995 to live with family. He served in the U.S. Army in the 508th
Parachute Infantry during World War II, from Nov. 9, 1943, until Oct.
21, 1948. He was a salesman for Oldfalher Tire Company for over 30 years.
He had been a member of the First Christian Church in Beatrice, Bitting-Norman
Post 27, American Legion, and Geddcs-Thober Post 1077, Veteran of Foreign
Wars, both in Beatrice, He enjoyed camping, fishing, tinkering, and
spoiling the family Beagle, "Beau."
Survivors: mother, Cora Nichols
of Beatrice; daughters, Judy A. Copeland and Terry C. Bartck and husband
Michael, all of Sparks, Nev.; sons, Gary Nicholes of Sparks, Nev and
Larry Nicholes and wife Rosalyn of Upland, stepsons, Bennett Graham
of Littleton, Colo., and Wesley Dean Graham and wife Sherry of Orlando,
Fla.; stepdaughter, Gail Graham Krider of Missouri; sister-in-law, Irene
Nichols of Beatrice; nephews, Danny Nichols and wife Linda of Lincoln,
Neb., and Duane Nichols and wife Cheryl of Beatrice; 1 1 grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded
in death by his wife, Fern in 1992; father, Roy Elsworth Nichols; brother,
Dclbert Nichols.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Saturday, June 5, Griffiths-Hovendick
Chapel, Beatrice, the Rev. David Stout officiating. Burial: Evergreen
Home Cemetery, Beatrice. Military graveside services: Bitting-Norman
Post 27, American Legion, Cremation, no viewing, Register book will
be available after 9 a.m. Friday, June 4, at Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel.
Memorial established with Griffiths-Hovendick Chapel in charge. Griffiths-Hovendick

registered for the draft ca. 1941 and was inducted into the Army on
26 March 1943.

Nicholes arrived in Boston on 14 December 194r and probably made his
way home via train.
On 7 May 1968, Ralph and Fern Graham
applied for a marriage license.
Unfortunately, Fern, who operated the
Nicoles Beauty Shop, predeceased Ralph by more than 7 years as she
died on 2 January 1992. The couple had two sons and one
daughter.
