Pennsylvania.
Carmen registered for the draft in Swissvale, PA on 30
June 1942 and was inducted into the Army at Greensburg, PA on 2 November
1942.

Pesante was transferred initially to Camp Pickett, located near
the town of Blackstone, VA. Today it is known as Fort
Pickett and is a Virginia Army National Guard installation.

Pfc Pesante was transferred from 82nd Division Hq,
Leicester England to Service Company, 508th PIR on 5 October 1944.
He was subsequently transferred to Company A on 11 November 1944.
On 7 February 1945, Pfc Pesante was evacuated due to a
trench foot condition. He was unable to return to the company
until 29 May 1945.
He was discharged on 21 December 1945 and married
Philomena M. Tartagllone in Allegheny county, PA on 27 June 1947 |
