EDWARD L. RATLIFF

Edward Lee Ratliff, 86, of Finley, died Wednesday, Feb. 23, 2005 at his residence.

He was a retired carpenter and former employee of Sylvania, a member of Finley Baptist Church, life member of the American Legion, life member and past commander of Disabled American Veterans, a veteran of the Army's First Special Service Force 5-2 during World War II and a Purple Heart recipient.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday in the chapel of Dyersburg Funeral Home with Brother Charlie Halliburton and Brother Doug Ellingsworth officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.

Edward enlisted in the Army at Ft Oglethorpe, GA on 9 August 1941.

Sgt Edward L. Ratliff was transferred to Hq 2nd Battalion, 508th from the 92d Replacement Regiment Bn on 16 January 1945.

Sgt Ratliff was awarded the Bronze service Arrowhead device for the Southern France Campaign and Airborne Operations.
