Grave marker for Dorris T. Raynor in Serenity Section, Lot
81, Grave B, Sunset Hill Cemetery, Glen Carbon (Madison county),
Illinois. Dorris enlisted in the Army at East
St. Louis, IL on 9 June 1942. On 10 August 1943,
Pvt Raynor was transferred from the Parachute school to Company H, 508th
PIR. For reasons unknown, he was removed from
jump status the following day. On 20 August 1943
Pvt Raynor was set on detached service to the 69th infantry Division at
Camp Shelby, MS for Administration and training. He was
permanently assigned there on 17 October 1943, |
