OLAF E. RHOADES

 

Olaf registered for the draft in Detroit, MI on 16 October 1940 and was inducted into the Army in Detroit on 15 April 1941.

PFC OLAF RHOADES, 25, [missing in action] since Sept. 17 with the paratroops over Holland.  He worked for Coca-Cola Co., entered the service in April 1941, and went overseas last May.
  He is the son of Mrs. Margaret Rhoades, 6826 Marcus.

However, Olaf was injured in the jump and had been evacuated.

The World War II Hospital Admission Card Files state the following:

Diagnosis: Fracture, closed, First Location: Spine and Trunk: Dorsal vertebrae; Second Location: Posterior thoracic wall.

His injury was debilitating and he was given a disability discharge under Section II, Article 615-360 on 16 May 1945.

He married Mildred Pieszkowicz in Detroit, Michigan on 19 May 1947.
