Birth certificate for Salvador S. Rodriquez issued in Fort
Madison (Lee county), Iowa documenting his birth on 24 May 1922.
Salvador enlisted in the Army at Tacoma, WA on 22 October 1922..
He must have been immediately transferred to the 508th PIR at Fort
Blanding but pertinent morning reports for 1942 are unavailable.
However, he shows up in Hq 2nd reports on 3 March 1943 when he was
declared as a qualified parachutist.
In September 1943 Pfc Rodriquez went on leave for 5 days and in July
1954 T/5 Rodriquez went on leave for 7 days..
He was awarded the Bronze Star Arrowhead device for participation in
the Normandy assault
On 20 September 1945 he appeared on the enlisted men roster for
Hq 2nd, 508th Parachute Infantry APO 757, US Army [including his birth
year].
T/5 Rodriquez was transferred to the 504th PIR n 2 October 1945.
This was probably to facilitate his transportation back to the U.S.
He was discharged on 31 December 1945..
Salvador married Leonor Lorona in Los Angeles, California on 25 July
1952.
He passed away on 8 November 1995 in Panorama City (Los Angeles
county), CA and was buried in Rose Hills Memorial Park, Whittier (Los
Angeles), CA. |
