Richard 'Butch' Pers Rollins
THERMOPOLIS, Wyo. --- Richard "Butch" Pers Rollins, 33, who was employed at
T and J Machine Shop, died Tuesday in his home in Lucerne. Cause of death is unknown. He was born in Thermopolis, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard G. Rollins. He was a graduate of Hot Springs County High School. In 1967, he married Kaletta Shaffer in Thermopolis.
He enjoyed welding, horseback riding, animals and ranching. Mr. Rollins was a member of the First Baptist Church of Colville, Wash.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Justin; two daughters, Carmen and Kimberly; his parents; a brother, Dennis of Billings; a sister, Nancy of Denver, Colo.; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Claude Scott of Saginaw, Mich.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday in Mortimore Chapel with burial in Riverside Cemetery.

Richard enlisted in the Army on 20 August 1967,
shortly after graduating from Hot Springs high school, Thermopolis, WY.
Six months later, on 14 February 1968, Pvt Rollins
arrived in Vietnam as a member of A Company, 1/508th
Infantry. 3rd Brigade, 82nd Airborne Division.
On 11 December 1968 SPC/4 Rollins was awarded the Bronze Star Medal as
well as the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious achievement during
his service as a
machine gunner in A Company.
Sgt. Richard Rollins, Paratroopers, reported at Fort Benning, Ga. where he will serve as an instructor in Paratroop training until August. Rollins has completed a 45 day furlough after more than a year's service in Vietnam. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Milton E. Rollins, Lyman.
