JOHN T. RURA
   JOHN T. RURA, 63, of Niles, Ohio, formerly of Coral, died Saturday, Nov. 21, 19B7.at Niles, Ohio. A son of Paul and Matilda Rura, he was born Dec- 29, 1924, at Coral.
   Surviving are his wife, Betty Rura; three sons and a daughter: Matilda "Dolly" Braden; Alfred, Paul, and Nick Rura; Iwo brothers, Michael Rura of Florida and Rudolph Rura of Blairsville RD l; and several nieces and nephews.
   Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in the Rossi Funeral Home, Niles, Ohio. Funeral services will be held Tuesday in Mt. Carmel Church, Niles, Ohio. Interment will be made at Niles, Ohio.

John registered for the draft in Indiana, Pa on 29 December 1942. He was inducted intro the Army at Altoona, PA on 26 July 1944.

On 19 October 1945, Pfc Rura was transferred from the 101st Airborne Division to Company I, 508th PIR. He was discharged on 24 June 1946.

 

On 16 February 1950, John submitted this application for the Pennsylvania WWII Veterans Bonus. He was credited with 8 months of domestic duty and 12 months of foreign service netting him a $260 payment.   At the time he listed his wife Mary and daughter Matilda Ann as his beneficiaries,

Mary died in 1968 and John married Elizabeth A, (Iezzi) Bates, a divorcee,  in Winchester, VA on 17 May 1971.

Elizabeth survived John by six years and is buried in Niles Union Cemetery, Niles, OH.  It is presumed that he is also buried there,
