  RUSHING, H.W. "Bud," 82, retired from Air Force, died Monday. Wednesday, U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Smith, Ark. (Agent).

H. W. "Bud" Rushing, 82, of Sallisaw died Monday, July 12, 2004, in Sallisaw.
    He was born January 23, 1922, in Olney Texas. He was retired from the Air Force.
   Graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith under the direction of Agent Funeral Home of Sallisaw.
   He is survived by a daughter, a sister and two brothers.

H. W. (had initials only) registered for the draft in Encino NM on 2 July 1942 and was inducted into the Army on 11 November 1942,

Pfc Rushing was transferred from Hq 82d Airborne Division, Leicester, England to Co, D, 508th PIR on 23 July 1944.

Pfc Rushing was wounded in action on 29 January 1945 and evacuated.

He re-enlisted on 10 November 1945 to take advantage of a bonus early return to the states.  The following day he was  transferred to the 6903 Reinforcement  Battalion, Le Havre, France to facilitate transportation home.

H. W. apparently switched to the U.S. Force whit was formed  in September, 1947.

He was discharged on 31 December 1962 with the rank of Technical Sergeant..
