WILLIAM A. SACKENHEIM

Grave marker for William A. Sackenheim in the Butler County Memorial Park, Trenton, Butler County, Ohio.
   Bill enlisted in the army on 6 January 1943 and was appointed to the rank of Sergeant within 18 months.
   Sgt Sackenheim  jumped into Normandy on D-Day and was wounded in action there on 3 July 1944.

SACKENHEIM William A. age 87, of Hamilton, Ohio died Monday October 19, 2009 at Deaconess Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was born on September 5, 1922 in Hamilton, Ohio the son of George and Leona (Green) Sackenheim. He was educated in St. Joseph Schools. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII. On September 25, 1946 in St. Stephen Church he married Theresa C. Hingsbergen. He was employed and retired from the Hamilton Board of Education. He was a member of St. Julie Billiart Church and KofC #968. He is survived by his wife Theresa; his children Theresa J. Waters, Constance M. Smith, Patricia M. Reed, Jean A. (Richard) Rust, Nancy J. (John) Marx and Sue (Larry) Harmon; daughter-in-law Vicky Sackenheim; 15 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brother Martin (Erma) Sackenheim. He was preceded in death by his parents, son William P. Sackenheim, 2 grandchildren Chris and Teddy, sisters and brothers Dorothy Leeds, Richard Sackenheim, Kitty Gallagher, Robert Sackenheim, Gloria Hesse, Esther Harnish Vera Sackenheim and Sherm Sackenheim. Prayers will be Friday October 23, 2009 at 12:30 p.m. at the Paul R. Young Funeral Home 3950 Pleasant Ave. Hamilton followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 p.m. at St. Julie Billiart Church. Burial in Butler County Memorial Park. Visitation will be Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Remembrances may be sent to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
