HARRY J. SMITH

Grave marker for Harry J. Smith in Plot: G, 0, 3446 of the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis (Hennepin County), Minnesota.

Harry was a member of the Medical Detachment and was attached to Company E as a Medic.  It is clear that he carried out his duties with bravery on the battle field as Pvt., and later Tec/5, Smith was awarded the Silver Star and also the Bronze Star Medal with one Oak Leaf Cluster.  In addition, he was wounded in Holland on 21 Sept 1944 and was presented with the Purple Heart.

Harry died in Saint Paul (Ramsey County), MN on January 21, 1995.  His spouse, Grace R Smith (1919 - 2009), rests here with him.
