Waldamar, who preferred to go by his middle name of "Fred", registered for the draft in Detroit, MI 29 June 1942.

On 20 October 1945, Sgt Spjeldet appeared in the 3rd Anniversary book photo of men recently arrived in Co C.

He passed away on 17 January 1990, his final resting place is unknown.
